So difficult to capture the intense reds of the poinsettia with a limited palette of watercolours…
Perhaps that’s why we have so many words for red – crimson, scarlet, cerise, vermilion, maroon…

Initial pencil drawing is pretty much continuous line, with lots of backtracking etc. Some bits it’s impossible to join on directly. Then I make it simpler when I go over it in ink.
