Quiet growths – small stone 13

When the hailstones stop rattling the window and steam rises from fences warmed by wintery sun, I venture into the garden. I am searching for lichens – unobtrusive life, slowly spreading its complex symbiotic existance across stones and branches, in all weathers, without fuss.
