I stick the candles in sweet sugar icing, reminding me of birthday parties years ago. Struggling to keep them all alight, I carry two cakes with their flaming candles. Everyone sings happy birthday, not for the youngest person at the table, but for his dad and uncle, my twin sons, born 34 years ago today.
For the first time in decades, both my twin sons were home for their birthday. We had a lovely day!
