First snowdrops – small stone 22

Nestled in the shelter of a mossy stone,
Green spikes poke through dead leaf litter,
Delicate white flowers touched with lime
Dip their heads, hang like shy lampshades,
I  bend my knees and crouch
To look into their light.

  1. Beautiful! I adore snowdrops. I have a son born in February. When I was pregnant with him, a woman stopped me, asked when the baby was due and when I told her she said that he would be a snow drop baby. He’s nearly 17, still my snow drop baby.
